The Growing Market Of Autographed Books
by Victor Epand
One of the fastest growing markets within the book industry would have to be autographed books. Within the past two decades several surveys have been completed while observing the trends that this growing market is making on our economic stability.
In previous years when ever the economy has been in a recession, the majority of the autographed books within many collections continued to increase in value. Also, during any type of booming economy these autographed books have been known to soar in value as well. It seems as if when the economy goes up, then the value within these autographed books increases as well, but it also shows that when the economy drops that their value continues to increase. Investing in autographed books has proven to be the investments that collectors have searched for earnestly, but have seemed to simply over looked their true potential.
There has been an upward increase in the value of autographed books during the past couple years, and it seems as if not only collectors have been building collections of them, but investors as well. Of course, like with any type of investment there is never any sure fire guarantees, but it does seem as if autographed books are a much more secure investment than any other type of collectible on the market today.
When individuals, collectors, and now even investors begin to consider purchasing an autographed book to add to their collection or their investment portfolio, then they must consider first the condition of the book as well as the popularity of the book and the author. Any autographed book that has been rated "AS NEW/FINE" simply implies that the book is in such great shape that it has the ability to demand the highest market price available. Autographed books that are marked as being hyper modern means that they have been written within the past twenty years.
There are plenty new autographed books that are becoming giants within the literary world today, but there is truly no way to determine their value in the next twenty years nor the next fifty years for that matter. However, if an autographed book or the author of an autographed book has won any type of distinguished or prominent award, then this book will most definitely go up significantly in value. Other types of autographed books that will most definitely continue to increase in throughout the growing market are books by such authors as Hemingway and Faulkner. This is because they have already stood the test of time and with them being autographed this is like the frosting on the cake.
No one can ever determine what the future will hold with any time of investment, but so far the future with autographed books does look pretty bright and collectors stand a much better chance with them than any or they of investments. As with most autographed book collectors, building a more complete collection is the real thrill of collecting not necessarily the market value of the collection.
